DOKI AT NUB SEAS ECON 11/30/23

Nagstart ko diris college on 11/16/23 actually. That time final exams tos among senior high school. Then nabusy sa grado ug enrolment. Then I went to Metro Manila last weekend from November 25 to 27. November 28, 2023 nagsugod n ang klases for the new term. Baw oi, I pray makaya nako Lord. Paspas kaju ang term diri lagi. But I already have the materials man. Ang pagdeliver n lng jud lagis lessons. I only have 5 klases actually. But tua pud Econ students lagi nga tutukan. I pray for the best always, Lord. Amen.

GIANG NGUYEN

She is Joy's classmate sa ISS. Naclose mi during the pandemic nga sige mi ug Zoom lagi. She also helped me out when I ran into some trouble in Saigon last June. Eventually nagkita jud mi last Saturday, 11/25/23 when I was in Metro Manila for a conference. She works for ADB now. Timing kaju coz she is here for a ten-day training so nadajon jud lagi ang among reunion with her classmate Joy Almazan. We also helped her out looking for an orange t-shirt sa SM department store. And she was so kind to allow me to spend the night in her hotel room. She gave Joy and I a pack of coffee grains p jud from Viet Nam. Lingaw pud mi'g catchup on Sunday morning while I was enjoying the congee that she brought with her. She will leave for Hanoi n ugma pohon. Basta we have a standing invite to Ha Noi kay tua n man sa USA diay kuno ijang daughter. I pray for the best. Jia you po!

NO MORE AAS 2024 ATTENDANCE

Actually, I got an accessibility grant in order to attend the Seattle 2024 annual conference. But nicancel n man sila Mam Amrita Malhi and the 2 others so di n lng pud ko modajon lagi. Monday afternoon man cguro to when I went to check a certain room for rent sa Vivas Subdivision in Plaridel, Bulacan. Nice didto kay safe nya walking distance ra lagi to and from the jeepney stop. But when I went there, they said taken n daw ang single room. So adto n daw kos room nga naay double deck. Sad. But today 11/15/23, they msgd that di daw madayon kay nawad-an daw ug wallet tong gusto mopujo didto. Hmmm, meant to be? But then, tua koy gustong tan-awn pud sa Penabatan, Pulilan, near the bypass road daw. Coz P3k ra man gud to while P4k tong sa Plaridel. But basin madala pud diay to ug P3k kay di man ko mogamit sa ilang internet. Ang ahong apas ato is ang kanindot ra man jud sa room bujag and ang accessibility and safety. So I plan to check out the Penabatan apartment this afternoon. Di sa ko moadto ila Kuya Rading kay morag daanon n man tong ilang room lagi. Jia you Doki!

So ako jud ang maningkamot ani lagi if gusto ko mobalhin. Gimahalan man ko atong ila Kuya Rading lagi that Karlyn Alipio helped me find. Duol ra jud nuon to nya maglakaw ko lagi ug mga 15 to 20 minutes siguro to NU/SM Baliwag. But morag not worth the price lng lagi kay morag wa ko kafeel ug safety didto. Ako ra jud nuon tas room nya P2500 daw if walang aircon and P3k if aircon. So if 2 mi moabang, P1,500 ra mi each. But wa lng lagi ko nidajon kay I somehow felt closed in didto. 2nd unit man gud siya. REAL ESTATE

This weekend has been about real estate. On Saturday night, I received a flyer from this lady manning the Alta Vida stall in SM Baliwag. She actually turned out to be married to a Korean guy. Yun iyang family name actually. But upon chatting with her, it appears that her husband is not related to the guy that I met in Hawaii many years ago. And y'day 11/12/23, while waiting for SM Baliwag to open, I chatted with this lady named Chello Cruz. She was manning the Alta Vida stall pud y'day. Whole day raw siya dun. But actually I talked to many people yday about rent to own etc. And today, there's somebody who said that they have an available room for rent in Plaridel, Bulacan. Tan-awn p naho if ganahan kos lugar and if ma-afford pud naho. Coz P2500 tong ila Kuya Rading lagi nga walking distance to NU/SM Baliwag. But then wa ko nidajon kay 2nd door and medyo kulob. Or di p lng jud ko decided lagi nga mobalhin. Nag order man gud ko ug 2 air coolers from Shopee. Asa n kaha to ay! Jia you Doki, go go go!

She's my new friend diris college faculty. She is a part-time teacher sa among school which is SEAS. Today she told me that she likes me as a new wife daw to his 65 yr old dad. Pastilan! On November 15, 2023 from 2 to 3pm daw pohon among General Assembly sa Academe Subsector. I will be documentor daw pohon and si Sir Ruby Cagas daw ang facilitator sa breakout sessions. UP ASIAN Center Conference, RUSSIA

November 9 and 10 afternoon lagi ang online conference between the UP Asian Center and Moscow State University (MSU). Nalingaw kos Russian lagi. And yesterday ang paper ni Dr Jocelyn Celero was about the health and social insurance literacy daw of migrant Filipinos in East Asia. I have a copy of it already coz I emailed her man. Hahay, nawad-an n pud ko'g tingog lagi. The student told me to drink water. But the good thing is nakapass n kos weekly asynch report. Tua n pud koy nacheckan nga mga submission. Di n pud siguro ko magdali2 ug submit sa grado di b Lord. November 28 p man daw magstart mi lagis college. Though tua nay nakalineup nga activities for November 20 to 24 lagi pohon. But madala ra lagi n cguro tanan. Amen. November 22 daw naay seminar from 1 to 5pm b tos AVR. Then November 24 daw picture taking and we must wear either a blue or black blazer. Birthday diay today ni Mam Beth Visande and she is in Batangas kuno. Nadajon jud diay sija though days before this she said wa lagi daw siya sugti kay naa daw accreditation sa Pharma ug Dent silas CDU. Mahal n man lagi kuno kaju ang ticket mao siguro gisugtan n lng siya. As it is, she said she is in San Jose, Batangas now to visit with her sister. Last meeting n pud today sa akong SHS klases kay final exams n man lagi next week from Thursday to Friday. Though magreview p lagi daw from Monday to Wednesday pohon. Nawad-an ko ug tingog today oi, kay sige man gud ko'g kaguol lagi no about sa mga bagay2. Go go go Doki, kaya ra lagi n nimo tanan. Aloha!

NANGHIHINAYANG

Nanghihinayang, nanghihinayang ang puso ko.. My former colleague here at NUB Senior High School told me that nanghinayang lagi kuno ko with Mr. X. True. Coz this morning, I saw one of my SHS students being sent to school by his dad on a motorcycle. And then I remembered my dad. Kay ija man ming pasakayon or ihatod lagi when modung pud mis school. Simple ra man kaju ang life sa among parents, Lord. They were both government employees and sa Tubigon, Bohol ra jud sila lagi. Naka-abroad ra gud ahong mama when I took her to Cambodia after the 2013 supershock in Bohol. Mao ni ahong need huna2on in life in order to be happy. Aloha Doki, go go go!

CONFERENCES 2024 (AAS and SEAMEO SPAFA)

Since hapit n man lagi ang November 16th which is the last day to register for AAS 2024 in Seattle in March next year pohon, nagstorya nas email lagi if madajon b o dili. One of the panelists, Dr. Sitti Nurdallah b to can't make it daw due to conflict of schedule. Si Dr Amrita Malhi pud said she can't make it kuno if walay travel grant lagi. I followed up with Mam Mary Ann Valentino n. She asked me for a soft copy of the mauscript (abstract lng sa for now) and the decision. I will wait Lord kung maaprub or not. If not, I can always join next time pohon. Amen. Basta kay sa college n lagi daw ko by November 16, 2023 pohon while final exams akong SHS subjects. Himo lng pud ko ug grado. I pray for the best. On the other hand, nice ang prospects for SEAMEO SPAFA. Coz I was able to reach NCCA man and asked for a possible travel grant. Pwede lagi daw and they gave me the list of documents to submit. At least 2 months before the flight daw ipasubmit. Buhaton ko ra to pohon makalugar kay mangita p ko lagi ug isa k paper aron maviable ang panel plus I have to finish my own paper on Gabii sa Kabilin (GSK) and its impact on the youth. Y'day 11/8/23 I was able to go out at around 4pm. Sus, pag abot nahos dorm, grabeng inita jud lagi. Nkhuna2 ko nga mobalhin. I went walking along DRT Highway n lng. I talked to Kuya Guard too on my way out. I asked him to show me again the room on the other side with only one occupant. The current occupant is not always there daw so pwede ra jud daw ko mobalhin didto. But then I ordered an air cooler n man lagi, 2 p gani to kabuok. Personal ra daw to ingon ni Hershey. Mao ng basin di n lng siguro ko mobalhin. Kay ang kainiton ra man jud lagi ahong problema. Wala man koy problemas distance of the dorm, my housemates and the place itself. Coz I can stargaze p lagi when I would wake up at around dawn. Kay open lot man among atbang before ang Baliwag City Terminal across SM Baliwag. DRILL

Today 11/9/23 around 9am we had a fire drill at NU Baliwag. It took about 30 minutes. I was with my HUMSS 231 class actually where Chloe Labao asked me if I would still be teaching them next term. I had to say maybe not anymore because I will be affiliated with SEAS then. Istorya pud mi ni Mam Emalyn after the drill. Sayang jud btaw nga mabusy n pud ko didtos college. Anyway, Ginoo n lay mag-igo sa tanan. Aloha to us all!

GIANG NGUYEN

She is Joy Almazan's classmate sa WND last 2000 to 2001 MA batch sa ISS. We have become quite close since the pandemic when we had Zoom meetings. She now works for ADB in Vietname. She said she will be in Manila lagi daw from 19 to 29 November. Since bakasyon man n namo, I hope magkita jud mi pohon lagi. Go go go! Incidentally, we will be in Manila daw pud on November 25 to join the Young Economists' Convention (YEC) at DLSU. One day ra man lagi n oi so I am not sure if I could still get the time to visit Uncle Boy and Uncle Nemie sa Laguna. Tan-aw n lng lagi tanan. Jia you Doki!

ACADEMIC WORK

Y'day 11/6/23 evening I had dinner with Dr Reggie Cruz sa Jollibee SM Baliwag. He wanted to talk to me before he went to Pampanga kay iya kuno kuhaon iyang money sa DepEd. Then this afternoon iya kong giaris SHS Faculty Room kay wa kuno naho sija gitext. Pastilan! Nagkita diay mi ni Sir Alvin Paulino y'day morning after flag raising ceremony. He said adto n lagi daw ko nilas college sa new term pohon. Okay po Sir. Btw morag moadto kuno mis Manila ig November 25 pohon kay mag-attend ug Junior Philippine Economics Society conference sa San Beda. Dugaya n atong last time nga escort kos mga estudyante oi. Morag sila Gloria Fukagawa p man siguro to. Mao to ang 'may kuryente b doon' when they said they were from Cebu. I have msgd Joy and Stone n about it. Hopefully magkita mi lagi while I am there. DR. JESTONI BABIA

He is my prof in one of my DPE courses at USJR Basak, Cebu City back in November 2015 to May 2016. He would eventually become the Dean of the College of Education there. Busy siya kaju kay sa iyang mga researches lagi. Taga Cagayan de Oro man nis Sir Babia so this time he is the president of the City College of Cagayan de Oro. I remembered him this week kay holiday lagi. To make the long story short, we were on Zoom with him this afternoon, 11/3/2023. They have a research daw for the National Teachers Council. They will consider us as their Luzon partner daw. It's up to our SEAS Dean po as well as our big bosses, our Academic Director (AD) and Executive Director (XD). Thanks kaju Sir Babia, more power to us always! ;)
