MOM'S BDAY 7/29

For Mama's bday last July 2017 we went to Maambong Park sa Garcia-Hernandez. 2018 we were at the lunch buffet in Henann Resort Panglao where we saw Anthony Pangilinan there. For 2019 I wasn't home in Bohol coz I just got home from Hawai'i then. For last year 2020 morag didto ra mis Tinangnan pud kay lockdown lagi. Ngaon ra mn cguro mi'g Gwaffles ato, or Crunch Chicken b to. For this year I am here in Cebu. Si Ate Ica made an MP4 video tribute for our mom. Touching kaju. We have a webinar on OBE this afternoon so after the webinar n ko plan moadtos simbahan and buy my sud-an pud. In the past I remember Bantil buying crema de fruta for my mom on this day. TINANGNAN CHANGES

We have lived in Tinangnan, Tubigon, Bohol since January 1988 in my paternal grandfather's property. Before that we were in my mom's hometown in Cawayanan. It's where I was born along with my brother too. AFter my mom passed on in November 2013, gusto n jud mi nga bahinon n ang yuta. It didn't become possible till about a month ago. Daghana n nako'g nabasa oi about the Korean diaspora these days. The latest one said that they are using the diaspora lagi daw to Eurasia and Latin America in order to secure energy resources daw. A FAMILY FOR THE HOLIDAYS

I watched this movie on Youtube last Saturday 7/24/21 afternoon. It is the story of 2 singers in a bar in New Orleans, Louisiana; a guy and a girl who actually are from the same place, Akron, Ohio. They go on a road trip to go home for Christmas and they discover many things about each other and fall in love. Hay pastilan n lng jud ang love. Anyway, Meet Me at Romance is the story of a middle-aged woman who is HR manager for a software company in Denver, Colorado. The guy is from Tulsa, Oklahoma. MIGRANT WORKERS IN HAWAII

I became interested in the migrant workers of the pineapple and sugarcane plantations in Hawaii in the past. Coz syempre I have a personal connection to it. So it was the Chinese who first came as migrant workers in 1852, followed by the Portuguese from 1878 to 1911, then the Japanese in 1885, the Europeans in 1897, the Puerto Ricans in 1900, Koreans in 1903 and Filipinos in 1905. Last group n niabot didto ang mga Pilipino and they were in the bottom rung daw among the ranks of the migrant workers. But these days, Filipinos are now the largest racial group mn daw in Hawaii, surpassing the Japanese. They have a FILCOM or Filipino Community Center in Waipahu. Y'day during the webinar on SDGs and Arts Collections organized by ICCROM in Italy, I remember the late Susana Melindo Andamon (Lola Sana), the wife of my mom's cousin, Lolo Maldo (Romualdo Cano Andamon). My mom would always sing the song that anhing Lola Sana composed herself and what she'd sing kuno when she's taking care of an infant. It included all the couples daw in Cawayanan, Tubigon, Bohol that time. It goes like this: Unsaon ko Costan Tasyo, ang mga kabilin Tasyong Balen. Unsaon ko na lang Ondo Milang, kining nagadangoyngoy Mintang Aproy. It's such a pity my mom wasn't able to write it down and get the song in its entirety. The first one was for my trip to Holland (2000 to 2005), the second one was for Singapore (2005 to 2010) and the 3rd one while I was in Cambodia (2010 to 2015) and the 4th one was what I used for my CHED scholarship application (2017 to 2022). Till Duterte administration, our passports were only 5 years valid. Duterte made it 10 years. Looking forward to that pohon. Jia you Doki!

Hawaiian Music

I find it very simple and profound. Acoustic guitar ra jud mostly gamiton and most of the time there is a hula dancer to accompany the song. Mike gave me 2 CDs of Hawaiian music as pabawon before I went home in July 2019. Naliki n lng gud ang CD 1. In the "Kauanoeanuhea" song of Keali'i Reichel in a certain concert somewhere, there was a couple who danced the hula as an accompaniment. His type of music is called kumu hula daw. I just find the hula a very sensual dance. There is a standing and a sitting hula dance daw. It can be a tribute or prayer mn gud. And I found a mass dance video also on Youtube of student couples dancing to "Pili Mau Me Oe". I even shared it to Mam Cathy Vestil, our PE Dept chair. Inter Nations Global Newcomers' Event

I was able to join the abovementioned event at 7pm here last night. Thanks po Lord. 9pm n ko nisignoff. Sila Sonny Jethnani and Nils Valentin ang hosts. I think I had 3 breakout rooms in all. The first was with Mari Fukuda from Japan, Ritz in Brisbane, Ramdul from Nepal and Eddie from Ghana. The second was with Shirley Zhao, Ainura, Sahedul the PhD student in Japan and David who didn't open his camera at all. The third one there were Shirley and Sam who is a Filipino but living in Latvia now, Maria from Indonesia, Cheryl and I forgot na. I added Shirley Zhao to my contact list. She is an intellectual property lawyer in Shenzhen. Then si Sam is a Pinoy in Los Angeles but they have offices daw in Prague, Latvia, Manila. Basta daghan sijag qualifications. He is married to a French woman pud daw. I asked him if he knows the Bernals who own SBCV. He doesn't daw. I met someone new also on Messenger this afternoon, si Mark Gary from Germany. Nicomment ra jud kos iyang post about the Duomo in Firenze and then he eventually said it would be good to talk on Messenger. So didto mi chat for about an hour. He is a widower from Germany daw but he eventually moved to the USA, in South Carolina. But he is a pilot daw and currently living in Berlin, Germany while his son and his mom are in South Carolina. His wife died 4 months ago daw of cancer. He mentioned coming to Philippines after covid phn. He has 2 other friends daw in Pasig and Bacolod. Di b kaha ni siya scammer? I can always keep him as a friend. Good night!

GLOBAL ALUMNI MEETUP

I just finished joining the ISS Global Alumni Meetup first session. It started at 630 pm here in Philippines then ended at 8pm. The second session will be on July 8th phon and mas late p kaysa karon nga session. I remember the current rector Dr Inge Hutter saying that they are looking for more engagements daw for people from the Global South. So mao n diay to ang LDE. But I am very thankful I was able to join it and in the breakout session I and Lava joined the breakout room with former Rector Hans Opschoor. There was Novi Anggriani who joined us and si Inge Hutter at first then Sandra joined us later then Mimu then Poom and kinsa p tong uban. There will be more activities to follow. We just have to be in the loop. I am happy si Stone and Jovic were able to catch up. I saw Martin Blok also in that session. Cute kaju. Good night!

BEFORE SUNRISE AND BEFORE SUNSET
