Today when I opened my email, I saw the message of Patricia Sloane-White (Univ of Delaware) about a possible travel funding in order to present a paper at Association of Asian Studies (AAS) annual meeting in March next year in Honolulu, Hawai'i, USA. Oh my God, where did it come from? Ang akong madumduman is namahaw lagi ko ug New Economic Policy (NEP) sa Malaysia ato nga webinar last August coz it happened at 7am coz taga Delaware lagi ang organizer. I can only recall emailing Dr Patricia Sloane-White after the event. Actually medyo controversial nga field ang akong nasudlan ron on Governance of Migration and Diversity (GMD). But ISS is offering this track along with EUR, Delft and Leiden. I remember lagi that Maastricht School of Management (MSM) used to have a program on migration and sige jud lagi ko ug email nila and di ko nila pansinon. (This time si Prof Jose Tongzon is Adjunct Professor raba jud diay sa Maastricht School of Management. He's currently in the Kazakhstan campus of Inha University. Transport and logistics mn ng iyang field as far as I know. Sa Tasmania iyang PhD. Naa bya Centre for Maritime Studies ang NUS). So diri ra diay japon sa The Hague area akong swerte. Today I thought of creating a Cebu or even Central Visayas chapter of the Dutch Fellows Foundation of the Philippines. Coz makaavail mn lagi ug grants from NUFFIC ang alumni orgs, basta di lng social gathering kuno. So pwede conferences etc as long as dili party lang. I msgd Kaira, Luchie, Regina, Mam Jessica already. Si Mam Jessica gave me 2 names and they are now part of our group chat (GC). Puros Grace p jud sila - Grace Carreon and Maria Grace Diaz. Si Jiah Sayson is part of the group n pud. Si Luchie gave me the name of somebody who studied in IHS. Si Mam Chloe Osano to. I msgd Mike Daisy Cusi and they agreed to be part of the group. They are now in Australia but interesado japon sa grupo. Salamat po. I emailed the president of the alumni association, si Mam Mary Ann Sayoc and she told me that minimum 20 daw ang needed in order to start a new chapter. So amo ng gipangita ang 20, with the help of Mam Chloe Osano, Mike Daisy Cusi and everybody. As of this count, we are at 25 n gani. Naay daghang taga Region 6 actually. Tonight 11/25/21 at 6pm here in Philippines, I joined the 2nd session of Kelly Brandi's Finding The One. The first session was last 10/22/21 at 6pm also. Twas raining so hard then. ISS STINT - 2000 TO 2001

I was among the MA Development Studies participants on a fellowship grant to the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in September 2000 to December 2001. I was doing MA Development Studies Major in Agriculture and Rural Development (ARD) with 19 other participants mostly from the developing world. From there I went for STATISTICA training in UP in May 2003 plus so many other trainings. Formal course in econometrics n lng lagi ahong kuwang diay. I was chatting with Boyet Agbon today when I realized that di ra mn jud diay ko behind sa akong numerical proficiency sa Economics. Coz I had STATA man lagi with Dr Marc Wuyts in ISS. He let us make a project gud on per capita food availability in India for RMD 121 Exploratory Data Analysis. Then I had a training mn pud on STATISTICA lagi in UP Diliman last May 2003 with LOM and that's where I met Mercie Buray Trillo of XU-AdC. Then last August 2015 I went for training in R also at Bayfront Hotel near SM Mabolo. That was the first time I heard jud of data mining. I also had a statistics class with Dr Leovigildo Manalo in SWU last 2nd sem 2014-2015. He used Excel man jud lagi for the computations. Kanang theory lng jud lagis Econometrics maoy wa ko maong feel ra japon nako nga kuwang p akong knowledge sa Econ lagi. But I did open my NUS TOR and ang akong GPA lagi after 2 semesters is 2.83, di jud nalalayo sa 3.0 GPA nga ilang gipangajo so pwede ra jud kaju ko ato lagi nga nitiwas sa akong M (Econs) n lng nga program after downgrade. Saun, naglibog n mn lagi ko ato kay diha n may possible work opportunity with Euroconsulting then I had my credit card bills p lagi pud to pay. Basta dugay mn lagi to naabot ang akong downgrade maong I was here in Cebu n when my downgrade came out. To make the long story short, wala n koy utang sa NUS so pwede n jud ko move on lagi. I told Boyet diay nga kalma ra kaju nas Prof Basant Kapur molecture sa Micro Theory masters level. Siya mn tong nikuha lagi ug papel nya iyang gihimo ug cone to explain the isoquant and isocost. I met her in Holland 20 years ago, along with Engrs Patrick Tan, Luis Cabatingan, Ramelito Agapay and May Tampus of the USC ChE Dept. Mga nangeskwela mn sila sa Delft under NUFFIC MHO agreement. We'd meet in church during Saturday afternoons and first jud mi nagkita sa Prinsjesdag in 2000. I told her on the chat last night about my latest news. She is excited for me daw. Salamat kaajo. He studied at IHE Delft while I was at ISS. We would also meet in church, mostly on Saturday afternoons along with his fellow Filipino cohorts din n sila Fernando etc. He has been back in Holland 3x n daw. When I told him of my news he said sana daw makapunta ako dahil magpapabili daw xa ng cheese. Pastilan, wa p gani kalarga gitagaan n ug task. Hahah, but of course dali ra n kaju. ELEN

She is now with the Provincial Government of Guimaras. She did her Masters in ITC Enschede while I was at ISS. We had a party kasi at the Philippine Embassy in The Hague in December 2000 and they spent the night in my place. Then the next day I brought them to the Peace Palace and to Scheveningen before they went back to Enschede. In late January 2001 I visited them in Enschede too. I searched for her on Facebook mga lately lang and she knows my news. She said she would like to see me here in Cebu daw. I told her to just stay in touch. God bless us always!

2 RESOLVES

During this pandemic I actually had 2 resolves - that dili magbakuna and dili magparenew ug passport. Sus, nagkacovid man lagi si Mam Fe Imbong so karap2 ko pangita ug vaccine slot last August. So fully vaxxed n ko by 10/4/21 buyag. Then I resolved pud not to renew my passport yet which is expiring on 2/17/22. But with my research associateship opportunity lagi, need jud current akong passport kay basin anytime paadtoon kos Holland. As of the moment, rising mn ang cases didto kay approaching winter. And I think nagrecruit p pud sila ug more people. The year is also winding down. But as soon as kompleto n lagi siguro ilang lineup, igather cguro mi ana tanan for the formal launch then basin paadtoon jud kos Holland lagi ana phn. GRAD ECON

They say that there are 2 traditions jud kuno of grad school Economics in the world: one is American which is heavy in econometrics jud. While the other is the British in which you would need to know how to write jud. I finished Micro Theory and Macro Theory mn lagis NUS so ang Econometrics n lng lagi nga core module jud ang wala nako mabuhat. I told Sir Gerard Go on the group chat nga di n lng ko mangambisyon anang econometrics lagi oi. Adto n lng kos dili quanti nga Econ. Or mokuha n lng ko ug assistant lagi if magneed mn gani ko ana butanga. Basta, I can read Econ journals man because Prof Aditya Goenka, my prof in EC 6102 Macro Theory taught us how to read it man. I remember the Euler equation jud sa iyang klase. Nabung jud kos V (k sub t) lagis iyang klase. Ug Hamiltonian pud. And I had to sit for the final exams in his class on my birthday in 2005 so dugay lagi kaju ko ato nauli sa Clementi after the test at dusk. Gitawgan n lng lagi ko ni Deepti kung nus-a ko mouli kay she wanted to cut the cake n lagi kuno that our Chinese landlady graciously sent us. Then dinner mi atos Trattoria in Holland Village after. Sila man akong mga nindut nga professors sa NUS. I got a reply from Dr Goenka, Dr Shin and Dr Tongzon n. Hope mobawos ra pud ang uban. I emailed Dr Jojo Abinales in Hawaii n lng pud ug si Dr Jose Buenconsejo. Nireply ra dajon si Dr Jojo. He wished me all the best. I greeted him happy Thanksgiving in advance. Then this afternoon, I replied to Kresna that 'talent can live wherever it wants these days'. From a Youtube video ni siya on urbanization. Basta naa lng computer ug internet lagi. And then I realized that I answered my own question n. So vindicated n cguro pud ko oi. Heheh. So far ako p gud ang tuas LDE Centre GMD website lagi. Less than one week since I received the email that I was accepted. Wow, morag magic buyag. Thanks Lord! But I expect it nga mapun-an ra coz I think they are still recruiting people p man. He didn't post in his Youtube channel for like 12 days then ang iyang latest post is a couple kissing in the swimming pool in a resort somewhere. Nya 'My Girl' p ang background music. Hahay. Ginoo n lng jud ang bahala sa tanan lagi. I am just excited with the prospect of setting foot in Europe again after 20 LONG years. Twas Jovic who started it all when he said 'see you in The Hague, Heidi'. Then si Toms pud told me last night that I am moving to Holland kuno lagi. Motake kuno siya'g LET pohon. All the best Reymar! He was my student in Econ and eventually became my colleague. We almost became colleagues in CDU but he had to leave man lagi. But he was the one who recommended me to CDU jud. He moved to Urios College in Butuan then St. Michael's College in Iligan then CNU before taking up his current post at Cebu City Senior High School. I thought mosapaw n pud ang akong thesis work sa Silliman with my Research Associate opp sa Holland. I emailed Holland n lng jud to clarify. And from there I learned that dili jud diay. The Philippines does want to have retirees here in the country. We have SRRV gud (Special Retiree Resident Visas). CFC KH 21ST ANNIVERSARY

Last Sunday, CFC Cambodia celebrated their 21st anniversary. I was able to submit a video man so they played it on the first day of plugging. Kami nila Caren Rafallo, Andrew Chua etc. I was able to watch the video of the anniversary celebration only on Monday, 11/8/21. There was a line from the opening worship song that really touched me. It said 'you came to me with kindness' and tiklop n pud ko. Saun ta man. Then today 11/10/21, I saw a rainbow in Jagobiao, Mandaue while I was on my way to the post office to mail my parcel for Endang in Indonesia and a Christmas card to a friend. She is getting married again man gud on Sunday, 11/14/21 in Medan. I would have wanted to go but Indonesia has a 14-day quarantine rule man for those coming from the Philippines. So next time n lng jud phn when pwede n. I have a standing travel fund from Air Asia anyway coz my ticket to SG for June last year was cancelled man. APEC 2021 VOICES OF THE FUTURE

New Zealand is hosting the APEC forum this year. The forum with the youth happened yesterday 11/9 and today 11/10 via a Facebook link. I asked my students to watch it and their task for Thursday is just to give a reaction and say how the 4 agenda can be achieved, to wit - a greener future, international cooperation for covid-19 recovery, a digital future and a future for all. Nadawat n daw ni Russel last Saturday ang akong little present which I sent to him via LBC last Wednesday afternoon. Today Monday, 11/8/21 at around 2pm I received the documents that I need to submit to CHED. In the morning I attended the webinar of EDCOM headed by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian at 10am. How to make Philippine Higher Education Globally Competitive daw. Then I watched the CFC Cambodia 21st anniversary at 12 noon then 2pm the Inquirer Sustainability Series on Green Growth. Then at 17:15 from LKYSPP on Asia's Uneven Recovery. Whew! Jia you Doki, pagbusy lang gud. God bless us all! ;)

PIQC WEBINAR 11/4/21

Today at 9am there was a webinar about the Visayan society during the Spanish times. Still part of the Philippine International Quincentennial Conference (PIQC) celebrations. Dr Bernardita Reyes Churchill joined it from Washington, DC. Tomorrow there will be another webinar at 9am. I will join till my class at 1030am. Jia you to us all! I connected to Ms Elaine Justine Aldaya with the Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu and Dr Jose Buenconsejo who studied at UH at one point. Si Miss Kinna Mae Kwan also had a very interesting presentation about the ancient Visayan art of tattoing (pintados or patik or batik as they say in Indonesia). She is known for her work diay with the White Russians who were anti-communists and came to Guiuan, Eastern Samar in the past. Anyway, looking forward to the session tomorrow. While ang diris Cebu kay halos half lagis short bondpaper. Mapaypay p gud lagi nimo if igangon kas pila. But as of Nov 1, 2021 morag lesser restrictions n lagi daw sa Bohol Tua puy effort ang Dept of Tourism nga ilibre ang swab test. Encouraged to travel n lagi ang mga tawo, esp for those fully-vaxxed.
